7260 Cub Cadet
Call It My Back Saver
Model Year: 0

This tractor has exceeded my expectations. I have a backhoe with a 24 inch bucket and a 5 foot front end loader. I wish they still made it. I'd buy another with a few more horse power.

Pros: Well built
Cons: None

I call it my back saver. I have a 406 loader, 408 backhoe, 5 foot box blade, and 5 foot finish mower. I could not have made a better chose. Everything is sized right.

7260 Cub Cadet
No Longer made by Cub Cadet/MTD
Model Year: 1998

Has actually been a very dependable tractor, but the 2008 merge with Yanmar has left the compact tractor market of Cub Cadet as non-existent. Yanmar has their own tractor line (with their famous diesel engine) but it still has very limited sales in US. The Cub Cadet 7260 tractor was an MTD parent company with a Mitsubishi 3 cyl. diesel. No dealerships in my area and was bought new from a fledgling enterprise In Woodland, WA. that is no longer in business. Not a good scenario and thank goodness the tractor has been a tough and dependable performer.

Pros: Very durable and also trouble free Mitsubishi engine. Simple but excellent design and good floor space enables you to get off from either side.
Cons: Issues with electical glow plugs went out (possibly due to relay) the glow plugs were off the chart expensive and one of a kind. also the loader is very strong (Cub Cadet loader) but there is a bolt mounting issue whereas the front bracket extends forward along the frame and the mounting bolts actually end up being the motor mounts as well. I have since removed the longer bolts that go through the loader and into the frame/motor as they are not really necessary and the main portion is attached to the loader mounting frame on the tractor.

7260 Cub Cadet
Cub Cadet 7260
Model Year: 1999

I bought a 1999 Cub Cadet to replace a borrowed 1951 Farmall Super C that is used on a small acreage horse boarding facility. Tractor is used to spread manure, move sand into stalls and paddocks, clear snow, cut water drainage paths, and to groom an outdoor arena. The size of the machine and the front loader are perfect for this operation as it will fit through gates that larger machines would not. It easily handles a large arena groomer. 4 wheel drive is great. Only problem was with glow plugs and cold weather starting. I replaced burned out glow plugs soon after purchase but still had starting problems. Added radiator hose heater which helped greatly. Just discovered that the glow plug relay had failed and burned out the new plugs soon after they were installed. Replaced relay and plugs and starting, with or without preheat, is no longer a problem. Some parts are somewhat hard to find. Most filters cross-ref to NAPA products, however glow-plugs and relay did not. Found them at Messicks.

Pros: Size of tractor and front loader, three point hitch.
Cons: Some parts not locally available.

7260 Cub Cadet
My Cub Cadet 7260
Model Year: 1998

Has been a great tractor. The only problem I've ever had with it was I needed to replace a control module for the glow plugs. Cost me about $50. I use this tractor to maintain my 1/4 mile driveway (summer and winter), haul all my firewood, bush hog a 5 acre field several times a year, run a chipper, powers my wood splitter, and powers my C.C. backhoe. It has enough power to do everything I need it to do. I have 4 loaded R4 tires, and am very happy with them. I looked at John Deere, New Holland, and Kubota before buying the C.C. I compared them feature for feature, and for price, and for me the C.C. came out on top. Couple that with a great dealer, and I've been very happy.

Pros: Very reliable, comfortable, fuel efficient.
Cons: The location of the fuel tank makes it kind of hard to get at. It's easy to spill some fuel when refueling.

7260 Cub Cadet
7260 does all I need
Model Year: 1999

I bought it used from my neighbor when he moved. I have ten acres of woods back in 100 acres with 6 other houses. I plow our private lane and drives in the winter with a 60in blade on the back. I rip up our gravel lane and drives with a 60in box blade. The fence lines are mowed with a 5ft Woods rotary mower. There is a woods backhoe for it that pulls up stumps and trenches for underground lines and culvert pipes. I use the FEL constantly for hauling dirt, rocks, firewood, fencing, and gravel. Once in a while I bog it down and it belches, but it basically does everything I ask of it and I’ve asked a lot of it! A friend picked up a log I told him not to one day and actually stood the tractor on it’s nose. (Needless to say, he’s never got back in the seat again!) It’s a tough little tractor!

Pros: Reliable! It never fails me! It just chugs right along with minimal maintenance. Its got enough ground clearance to go over downed trees and slog through deep mud. It has the power to lift anything I need moved. I am very happy with it! Its purty too!
Cons: I wish the engine had just a little more power, although I would probably get myself in trouble with it! The exhaust is aimed back toward the driver, at least on my year model. The clutch is stiff and so is your leg after hours of plowing.
