"I like this tractor, but I don't love it. I'm currently working on trading it in on a 5045E. Trying to switch attachments around on the 3 point is a pain in the butt. Twice I had to replace a neutral safety switch. The oil change is every 100 hours which seems ridiculous. I've torn off the step and the 4wd shaft cover twice. One of the flasher bulb sockets fell apart. I'm going to Deere looking for better quality. I do custom tractor work. Mostly field mowing."
"I was looking for a 2wd basic no frills tractor to use with a mid-mounted post pounder and to pull the tedder and rake in the hay fields. I ended up with the Farmall 45A as it was the easiest to mount a pounder to and was a great value and well laid out. The first thing I noticed was how comfortable the seat was. Anyone who spends long hours on a tractor will appreciate the seat on this one. It is a high back and just perfect for me. I commend CNH for putting it on there as it seems most companies try to save a few dollars by using a cheap seat. The Farmall 45A comes with one remote standard as well as telescopic stabilizers for the lift arms and telescopic lift ends making it very easy to hook up a 3pt implement. The filters are all located in easy to access places and are priced properly. It is easy to maintain this tractor and has great sight lines over the hood and around the operators station. It turns extremely sharp being 2wd which was why I wanted it. It also has a bottle holder mounted to the rops (it is the little things like that make you appreciate the thought put into it by the design team). This tractor is the fastest tractor I have operated so far. It is very quiet at full rpms and is easy to get on and off of. All of the controls are placed well and easy to access. What I am not a fan of is the stupid seat switch that beeps every time you hop off the tractor (which is often when replacing posts). The transmission isn't synchronized so there isn't any shifting on the fly which isn't a big deal usually. I could have got a tractor with a synchronized transmission but it would have cost me considerably more. Overall this tractor is just a pleasure to operate. I try to find jobs for it just so I can use it more. It is a lot smoother riding then my much more expensive Kubota and a lot more comfortable as well. I have both tractors set up narrow for working in the vineyards. The Farmall has skinny tires mounted tight to the frame. It has easily been my best purchase out of any tractor I have owned."
