"I currently have three tractors and this is my favorite by far; I've had garden tractors since 1985 and it has been the best so far. The Briggs & Stratton OHV V-Twin is one of the best engines on the market today. I've added many custom accessories, like a winch and a utility box, but the basic tractor is stock and very reliable."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Every part is slightly heavier duty than on standard Cub Cadets Cons: Nylon starter motor gear breaks in cold weather/low battery conditions. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA WA I also considered buying: Wheel Horse GT-14, Cub Cadet 680

"I bought my 1641 recently and have enjoyed this machine so far. I have it back to 100% operation. I cleaned the deck out, put a new belt on from engine to deck, put on new fuel line and filters, cleaned the carb, got the tail lights and head lights working again, greased all the fittings, tightened the hydro lever so it didn't lose speed as I mow, adjusted the reverse rod to the hydro, adjusted the brakes so they work, oiled and spray greased everything that moves. Next on my list engine oil and hydro service. It sounds like a lot, but I enjoy tinkering with this Cub. I am expecting to see the hour meter hit 1000 plus hours on this machine but hope to see many more than that."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Tough, built fully serviceable and greaseable, fun to work on, 54" deck. Cons: Exhaust in front, deck rattles a lot when not in use. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA PA I also considered buying:

"I bought my 1641 used from another owner with less than 100 hours. I use it primarily as a lawn mower, however, I bought a plow attachment an have used it to plow my driveway for many winters. I had to replace the engine due to a leaking cam seal which could not be repaired at 600 hours. A hydraulic tube developed a leak which involved dis-assembly of the seat, fenders and gas tank. A worn starter gear was replaced and a new voltage regulator as well. I replaced a PTO easily with the advice of a pro on this site and great recommendations of vendors that helped save me money. Overall, this garden tractor has been an excellent purchase and is still running strong. I have used the tractor-by-net website to research all the issues I've had with it and have received excellent advice from some very helpful pros here."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Well built, easy to repair. Cons: Parts are expensive through Cub Cadet (manufacturer). Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA MI I also considered buying:

"Sorry, I don't have any pictures of a stock 1641; mine stayed "factory" for about one day. ;) I have heard of these referred to as "The Cadillac of Cubs Cadets" and there is a lot to be said for that. They have a lot of power and are tough, very tough. I use this for everything from skidding logs to winching everything around the place that needs winchin'...which can be a lot. That is a Harley pipe that diverts the idiotic front exhaust pipe so that you don't drive through your own smoke all day. That is the only real change I have made to the basic design; everything else is simply bolted on or wired in. The hydrostat tranny is smooth and reliable. The hydraulic three point hitch is a real bonus and I even put the mower deck once in a while and mow fields 4 feet high. A fine machine. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Tough, reliable, powerful, hyd 3-point hitch,16 amp alternator. Cons: Exhaust blows forward & needs to be diverted. Hyd. is power-up only. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA WA I also considered buying: Cub Cadet 1862, Cub Cadet 1811, Cub Cadet 1730
