Reliable Old Workhorse
Model Year: 1947
This wonderful old tractor has been modified so many times it is almost hard to recognize. It is painted a faded yellow, it has an aftermarket wide front end, an aftermarket 3-point, an F-20 gas tank, etc. This must have been used after the Mt. St. Helens eruption (Eastern Washington), as it has a huge HUGE Caterpillar air filter added to it. I converted it to 12 volts and installed an electronic ignition kit. Regardless, it is a great old tractor, with lots of power. (It would appear to have the "power pack" installed, based upon the compression numbers.) Unlike most modern tractors, the 3-point has "down pressure" and lots of it. I can sink a sub-soiler 2 feet deep with it. It has broken a lot of hard ground. This is not a compact tractor, and needs a lot of room and strong arms to maneuver, but it just keeps on ticking. I've had this tractor for 20 years and can't say enough good about it. It also provides a lot of cheap humor to bystanders when they see me headed down the road (old fat bald man with a beard) on a pastel yellow tractor with that distinctive "M" exhaust sound.
Pros: So reliable, will work all day on a tank of gas
Cons: No comfort or safety features
