Marine Tractor (TUG)
Model Year: 0
I live on a 50 ft. converted inland waterway tug, moored on the River Medway estuary UK. Originally 30 ft long, she was lengthened by 20 ft to provide accommodation. The original engine which sits in its own engine room, is a Ford 2700 series (Ford 2703 actually), which from the block and head castings, dates from 1966 or so. The engine was completely professionally rebuilt in 1999 prior to our ownership and runs beautifully. With a short tractor exhaust straight up through the engine room top, she actually sounds like a tractor too!
Pros: Simple, robust, reliable.
Cons: Does use a fair drop of oil in use.
