"I live on a 50 ft. converted inland waterway tug, moored on the River Medway estuary UK. Originally 30 ft long, she was lengthened by 20 ft to provide accommodation. The original engine which sits in its own engine room, is a Ford 2700 series (Ford 2703 actually), which from the block and head castings, dates from 1966 or so. The engine was completely professionally rebuilt in 1999 prior to our ownership and runs beautifully. With a short tractor exhaust straight up through the engine room top, she actually sounds like a tractor too! "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Simple, robust, reliable. Cons: Does use a fair drop of oil in use. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: UK OT I also considered buying:

Dexta Joins the Fordson Major

Model year: 1958 Date Purchased: 2013-03-12 Number of Hours: ?

"Completely by chance, I ran into a somewhat battered and beaten looking Dexta built in 1958. It wasn't particular expensive and the tractor dealer said Dextas were famous for their short turning circle which made this one ideal to work the horse paddock. Smart guy, knowing we have horses, so I bought it and he was right. It is a lot smaller than the Major but it is a lot more agile. It is strong too, considering it has only 32 hp, it is well capable of handling all the implements I have. It has got live PTO and hydraulics too. I really like it since it comes from the first owner who never abused it since he always had bigger tractors around. It needs a bit tidying up but other than that it has aged beautifully so the battle scars remain."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Handy little tractor on full width track. Cons: Hand throttle only and a clumsy clutch pedal that can only be pushed by fully raising your foot. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: EUR OT I also considered buying: Fordson Super Major

"I received the tractor April 15 2012. It was sitting in a field and came with the property when my father-in-law bought the land. I got it running so he gave it to me. I am going to restore it to it to its original look. It is a petrol engine not a diesel. So far I have been doing research on it to find out what engine it has, its origin, and the biggest thing, finding parts."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Free. Cons: None yet as I haven't had a chance to really work it. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA KY I also considered buying:
