International 1486
Model Year: 1982
This is a genuine workhorse of a tractor! It has huge power and torque and will reliably work all day and night. In its day, the machine had all the latest advances in tractors, including A/C which is a must for the hot Australian summers. The machine is actually slightly under weight for the power it has. Even with water filled dual wheels, the machine could have done with more traction to get the big power to the ground. 4WD may have helped. Capable of pulling large implements, the machine will tow an air seeder today, cut hay tomorrow and then pull big field bins the next day without complaining. Only major tip: Don't use the Torque Amplifier! Since new our TA has never been used as they leak as soon as they are engaged.
Pros: Big power & torque, large pulling & pto power. Good all round visibility from the cab.
Cons: Could use more weight, axles stick out a long way when dual tyres are removed. TA is not good and whilst trans is bullet proof, shifting on the fly is not really possible.
