"I bought the John Deere 310C to replace the Ford 4500 Gas which I've had for 28 years. I liked the Ford and was hesitant to buy something other than a Ford. The 310 JD is a "home run" for me. I use it to snake out logs for firewood. It is heavy enough to take out any size stumps. It gets around tight places with wonderful easy to use power steering. The 310 needed front end work when I bought it. My son and I installed all new pins and bushings. We reinforced the frame in the front where the front axle pivots and slams against the bottom of the frame. We did extensive rust work on the sheet metal, worked on wiring, reupholstered the seat, new blower motor in the heater and replaced the heater hoses. I've got a real nice backhoe for right around $13,000. We also fabricated a breakaway/slip out lower step to help me get aboard."
"I bought this machine used from a private party in Sept. of 2001. It approx. 4000 hrs on it. I purchased a piece of land and used this machine to put in a driveway 300'. Cleared out 1 1/2 acres and dug out for my house. I also used it for installing my septic system and put all my utilities underground. It has been a reliable machine. When I first bought it I purchased a JD repair/service manual. Just keep up on the grease and PMs and you will prevent problems from happening. Now I use it around the yard for snow removal, driveway maintenance, and for hauling Cordwood. Overall, I am very happy with this machine."
