Model year: 1994 Date Purchased: 2000-01-01 Number of Hours: 3500

"I bought this JD 410 second hand for moving logs around my small sawmill and other jobs as they came up. It has been near perfect, but I did have a vexing problem that turned it into a 15,000 pound paperweight for several months. (I'm stubborn, and refused to call in a mechanic.) It would start and run for 2-3 seconds and then sputter out, and it "felt" like a fuel starvation issue. I replaced the filter, cleaned out the fuel tank a few times, tested the pump - all was good, yet it wouldn't run more than 2-3 seconds. When the grass started to grow up around it, I finally caved and called a mechanic. He was stumped but called someone else. I was inside the workshop and heard it fire up and keep running- shocker, after a few months of the trouble I described. Turns out there is a little glass ball like a check valve in the line and it occasionally corrodes itself in a mostly closed position. We busted the little glass ball and it has ran like a champ since. I have replaced a water pump and a few hoses and it's been a champ. "

Model year: 1981 Date Purchased: 2013-07-01 Number of Hours:

"This machine cranked right up after sitting for several years with a different charged battery. All the hydraulics worked but it would not go into gear. We are working on reverser now it had a open line,-broken that allowed water to contaminate the inside of the reverser. I are veer pleased with the size of the machine and look forward to seeing it move."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Hydraulics work, engine run well. Cons: Need front tire and rim, won't go into gear, and I need a larger truck and trailer to move it. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA TX I also considered buying:

Solid Tractor, If Not in Mud or on Hills!

Model year: 1974 Date Purchased: 2010-05-11 Number of Hours: 3300

"Like the review says, this is a solid tractor. They really don't make them like this anymore. The positive is that it is bare bones, no bells and whistles so less to go wrong with it. The downside is that it could really use 4WD. Maneuverability sucks because this is so long. I used it to put in a house, septic system, and road. I also skid trees with it. Due to it being so heavy, I have had it stuck in the mud all the time due to it's low clearance. The backhoe can drag you out but there is not much work getting done. It would be unstoppable if it came in 4wd, like later models offered, but only useful in the dead of summer in southern Ohio with a lot of clay, hills, and water. If you work on flat terrain this will do well for you. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Built well, strong, easy to work on (in most cases), good value. Cons: Too heavy and long for it's own good, needs 4WD desparately. Type of User: Commercial Construction Location: USA OH I also considered buying:
