My JD 5625 with a Self Leveling Loader

"The tractor I have was bought at 15hrs (brand new from dealer) and it is a reliably tractor. I had a JD2840 with a jd148 loader. I miss it. The 5625 has a self leveling buck, the bucket will not till as much as a loader that isn't a self leveling. The hydro's are quite snappy and I was impressed by how fast the hydraulic system would respond, it had plenty the pressure to raise and lower an implement but the bucket would wimp out fairly easily, the wheel basis on these tractors is two short to be used with a loader, but it does have MFWD (four wheel drive) and that is nice. The engine is a 4 cycle and just doesn't have the power that my old 2840 had but it starts up better than the worn out 2840 on cold days, the shuttle control is nice but gets annoying for I am used to pressing in the clutch the go from forward to reverse and the shuttle will kick in and spin the tires, and it has an electric switch to engage the PTO so it is hard on augers the 2840 could be engaged slowly but not the 5625. All in all, it is a very nice tractor if you use to for mowing or hay but not so great for augers or loaders and don't use them with eight foot blades for the three point isn't very heavy. I would not recommend this tractor and I am currently trading it for a 5020. The 5625 is great for small applications but not much else I would recommend going with some thing like a Farmall 400 with a loader or one of the newer John Deere 6000 Series of loaders and if you put a bucket on them see if you can get the 2.5 inch cylinders replaced with 3 or 3.25 inch cylinders you will have almost double the lift power which you want once in a while but need it when you do. Please do no buy this tractor if you want to run an auger or loader it just wasn't built for it, but is still a nice reliable tractor. I'm up to 1500 hrs on it and it hasn't given me any trouble."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: It has ac/heat, cab, a nice transmission, good radio. Cons: Short wheel basis, poor shuttle control, four cyl. engine. Type of User: Commercial Farmer Location: USA IL I also considered buying: John Deere 2840, John Deere 6430 Premium

"Just bought a mint condition JD 5625 with 130 hours. 99 HP, 82 PTO HP, MFWD, PowerReverser 12F/12R Transmission, JD 542 LDR, Standard and Economy PTO, Electro-hydraulics on rock shaft, Cab AC/Htr, Rhino 284 dual tail wheel mower, wheel weights on rear wheels, R1 ballasted tires. Have only put about 10 hrs on it - so far so good. Power is awesome. Have mowed 5' weeds at 1700 RPM engine economy mode with plenty of power. Mower is really quiet while running cab A/C. Have to check PTO shaft rotation in rear view mirror to make sure I am still mowing. Front end loader very nimble and works great. Have been cleaning up overgrown woods after selective timber harvesting 3 years ago. Considering the length of the tractor with 7" mower it is still very nimble in the woods. Power reverser is clutchless but out of habit I'm still using the clutch. When I do shift it without the clutch it is very smooth, but most of my use has been at 1700 economy mode engine RPM. Plenty of mass where tractor is wagging the loader and mower and not vice-versa."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Power/mass/comfort/ease of use Cons: None so far. Type of User: Homeowner 100+ Acres Location: USA TX I also considered buying: Kubota M9540
