No Power Take-Off Shaft Protection Provided

3.7

Model year: 2009 Date Purchased: 2017-12-02 Number of Hours: 500

"John Deere did not provide any cover plate for the undercarriage power take-off shaft on this year model. When mowing tall hay, the grass winds around the shaft and damages the transmission/power take-off bearing seals. It's a very costly repair and can seriously damage the transmission. Very poor design on John Deere's part. Otherwise, it is a good machine."

Pros: Good power, mostly reliable Cons: No undercarriage protection for transmission power take-off drive shaft Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA OR I also considered buying:

Upgrade From A 670 To A 3720 - Big Move

"After last winter's snow in our area - I said that's it for an open station tractor and did the big move to a cab 3720. I ordered a John Deere snow blower (59) for next winter. That means no snow next season. The A/C has been great. It is doing 45 acres of bush hog work (with a MX5). It has all kinds of power and the bees cannot get me. Great tractor!"

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Power. A/C, heat, comfort Cons: Could use a better spot for a tool box Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA NY I also considered buying:

3720 Not As Good As My Old One

Model year: 2011 Date Purchased: 2011-07-13 Number of Hours: 400

"I had an older 3720 - not much problems, but I had to broom it. I got this one new in 2011 with almost all options except for the cab and I use it about for about 100 hours per year. The problems I have had with it: hydraulic cylinder, wheel bearing, and hydraulic leaks. At least these were mostly under warranty in the first 100 hours. It seems to have less and less hydraulic power and I have to use more and more throttle to get things done. The dealer can't figure it out and says the hydraulic filter is fine. Hydraulic filters are huge money and it’s not a simple spin on. Now the front wheel bearing is grinding again and two more cylinders are leaking. It is a shame. I wanted a small but powerful tractor and paid out the nose for it ($45k+). "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Small, gets in places Cons: Poor reliability, seems mostly to be hydraulic system Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA MI I also considered buying:

"Just read a review about tractor tip over on slopes. I just switched the wheels front and rear from side to side. On the Rear you will gain 3 inches of width by switching around. You will also have more space between the tire and hydraulic lines (right side of machine) for tire chains. Tires must be moved left to right so tread pattern works as designed not just turned around. The front you will gain about 8 inches total width. The machine is built to have the tires reversed as per owners manual and dealer. The other thing you can do is load your rear tires with beat juice. The rear tires will hold about 38 gallons each which will give you about 350 to 380 extra pounds of weight per tire. Much better for loader work. Some use water and calcium but it will rust out your rims unless you use tubes. Plus Calcium is not good for environment when it leaks out, and it will with a nail or ripped tire. The beat juice will hurt nothing including livestock. Also the extra weight will help to prevent machine from roll over more so than not, now that you have a lower center of gravity."

Update on Exhaust gas in cab

"Update on the Exhaust fumes in my 3720 factory cab I have finally installed, and have had a chance to use tractor for 3 hours today with the vertical exhaust. For the first time since new I had no burning eyes, nor a headache from exhaust gas. I had checked rubber seals at both doors and rear window. All were tight. The only time I had fumes in cab was when the air intake fan was on, or when rear window was open. I changed to vertical exhaust, installed myself, about 1 hour very easy installation. Today -20 so window closed heat and fan on for the 3 hours and no more issues with exhaust gas. Finally I can go out and do the work I need to do and don't feel sick when done. Another thing that I found that was nice is when I am outside of machine changing from loader to forks I am not breathing in the exhaust fumes. Nice. Oh and the sound of the turbo can be heard a bit when outside of machine for those who care but no difference noise wise once inside cab. Now I am very happy with this machine, and can now highly recommend this machine for the work it does for me. Oh and by the way your dealer should be able to get this vertical exhaust at no charge to him or you from John Deere. Not likely if not still under warranty but mine is still under warranty and I had a good business case which the dealer agreed with. Dealer presented this issue to the manufacture. John Deere covered the cost of the exhaust. Thank You John Deere and a huge thanks to my dealer for his time and efforts, in looking after this very big health issue for me. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: This machine works great I am very happy with it now that it has vertical exhaust Cons: None now everything works great. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: CND OT I also considered buying:

Exhaust fumes in factory cab

3.5

Model year: 2013 Date Purchased: 2014-01-21 Number of Hours: 207

"Traded in 2007 open station with 1100 hours on machine. I traded only to have factory cab otherwise very happy. New machine now has 207 hours but there is one very big problem in my opinion and that is the issue of Exhaust fumes in cab. I have issue on very windy days, calm days, hot days, cold days, and have had this issue since day one. As far as I am concerned it has nothing to with anything other than the exhaust blows out under engine towards front left tire. Hot gasses rise and make there way back to rear of machine and up the back of cab right into the supposed fresh air supply of cab. Sorry John Deere you know better and all machines should have vertical exhaust blowing out above the machines roof, away from the fresh air intake. I have tried running with fresh air fan on low, medium, high, with doors and window closed tight. Also with rear window open with fan on makes no difference. I am getting gassed out. John Deere should NOT be building these machines without vertical exhaust. You don't see the bigger machines without vertical. Same fuel, same diesel fumes, same poison. I have just ordered vertical exhaust through the hood and hope I can spend a few hours in machine without getting gassed out. No visible exhaust, machine starts and runs great. Should be a recall on these poor under machine exhaust systems. Maybe I will get a discount on vertical. Just waiting for return call on price from dealer. Maybe everyone who owns these machines will get a letter from John Deere giving us all a choice to convert to Vertical Exhaust at no cost to owner. Oh Oh I was in the machine for 1.5 hours again this morning getting gassed out maybe I am dreaming. Great machine John Deere but you really do need to address this issue! Your product is gassing us to death...."

"This tractor has a very closed wheel base. It will tip easily especially if you have a Cab on it. It doesn't take much of side slope to tip over. Just want to warn people."

"Purchased the 3720 In July of 2013. Only concern at his time is the rear end is light. Using the front end loader I can lift the rear end up to the point it provides no traction while loading. I will soon hang six suit case weights on the 3 point of the tractor which will resolve this issue. Also hope the weights help with the ride. Have always run John Deere so did not look at any other brand of tractor. I am a retired wheat and alfalfa farmer."

"I have had the tractor for a year now, and have mowed 12 acres with a 7 foot Woods finish mower, about 6 times last summer. Got off of it last night after blowing 15" of snow out of my 375' long driveway, and just can't believe how quick this tractor gets the job done. I usually go looking for more to do with it, but then I think of the cost of diesel fuel and put her away for the night. I wanted to follow up this year as last year having the cab was new and I wasn't sure how it was going to be in the summer. It was fantastic, best investment i have made yet."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: It does a great job for everything I need it for. Cons: Wish the fuel tank filler was easier to reach with a fuel can. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA NY I also considered buying:

"Bought new 3720 O/S. So far, other than regular oil changes, transmission fluid & filters, I have only spent money on front axle seal, engine coolant change two tire leaks (nails). I have 300cx, forks, back hoe, 7 foot box scraper, 19 kw gen, water pump at 150 gallons per min, wood chipper. . Very reliable machine. Still looks like new (garage kept washed & waxed). Most of the work this machine has done is loader work. Zero issues so far. My only complaint up in Northern Ontario is the 20 to 30 below zero temperatures. Yikes that is cold after 3 or 4 hours. So I have ordered a new machine with deluxe cab. Just retired at 55 and want to be able to use into later years. Dad is 85 so I have my fingers crossed to see 85 too! "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Everything about this machine for me is top marks! Cons: Have been days I wish I had another 200 HP---oh well. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: CND OT I also considered buying:
