"I bought this used. It's a good little machine. I've had plenty over the years: Sears Suburban 10 hp, Cub Cadet 2000, J.D. 110, and now this. I just use it to clear the snow. The best I had was the Cub 2-stage, then this L110. The nicest machine was the 110, but 1-stage blower always jammed. But this 2-stage blower has too much plastic, which has needed reinforcements. The motor is nice. Hydro trans is nice, not awesome. The Cub let me go faster. I probably will go back to a heavier machine next time. "

"Bought the L-110 at a Deere Dealer and was ready to be amazed at the John Deer experience. However, my adventures with this tractor are blah at best. It was sold as a mulching mower, but all they did was put a block-off plate over the discharge chute. It bogged so bad I had to remove the blocking plate. I ended up replacing the Deere blades with Gator Blades and the cut was much better, though it seems like I have to re-level my deck twice a summer as the cut starts to get uneven. I've had issues with the transmission/axle since the third year. The right axle leaks fluid where it exits the transmission. The problem is that the only way to fill the tranny is to completely remove it from the tractor! So, now every spring I drop the transmission, top it off, replace the bushing/seal, and see how long it takes to leak down to where I need to drop it again. I've replaced the seal enough times that I'm convinced it's the axle itself wobbling or perhaps some sort of crack or burr in the case itself. No problems ever with the Kohler engine. All things considered, I figured that with a Deere you'd always get certain things standard, like a good cut, reliable, maintainable, etc. That hasn't proven to be the case with my Deere, and when it comes time to replace it I will owe no special loyalty to them and probably lean towards another brand as a result."

L110 K46 is Not Tough

"I use my L110 a lot, to mow to haul a trailer to the dumpster, to drag my driveway. The tractor overall holds up well. The Kohler engine has never missed a beat. In 250 hour, I changed the plug once (because I used some old dirty gas) and changed the oil at 50 hours (because I am lazy). But after 8 years of use the K46 tranny got weak and will barely move the tractor up hill and slows down after continuous use. It is a shame the tractor has held up fine and after 9 years it is all in all in great shape, but without a 700 dollar tranny rebuild or 1,000 dollar upgrade to the K66, it is almost worthless, or at least useless. That kind of money is too much for a 9 year old $1,200 dollar tractor. Spend more money in the first place or buy used and check the tranny. K46 tuff torq is a !WARNING! label."

"This small tractor has worked great for 10 years but now has a transmission issue. It will no longer pull the tractor uphill and I live on a sloped property. Will be trying to change out the fluid in the next couple of weeks even though John Deere says the transmission is a throw away part and wants $700 for the part. Will let you know how is goes."
