SST16 Design
3.0
Posted 06/20/2015
by Arthur Roberts
Model year: 2004Date Purchased: 2001-04-26Number of Hours:
"The SST16 is an experimental spin-steer that uses a steering wheel. A clumsy weight and small wheel were added on the back to keep it from tipping backwards. This causes the SST16 to easily get hung up in a ditch, between the front wheels and the rear wheel, leaving the tractor with no traction.
The left/right steering actuators wear out fast if the wheel is turned too hard to the stops, because the wheel stops are inadequate.
The hood is plastic and gets damaged easily.
The wheels have no tubes and lose air, so all the wheels have to have tubes put in them.
One has to be extremely careful not to hit anything with the Freedom 42 blades, in order to avoid replacing the belt at about $50 just for the part."
