"Best garden tractor I've owned. Never fails me. Purchased the tractor with turf tires, 62C mid-mount mower deck, 47" front mount snow blower, and optional category 1 3-point hitch with rear PTO. Cost was $14,000.00, but worth all of it. Apart from routine greasing, oil changes and filter replacements, and fixing a few flat tires, the only thing that failed was the 12VDC fuel shutdown solenoid. The tractor's weakness is its susceptibility to overheating when mowing in hot temperatures. The radiator is very small and the HST cooling grid sits right in front of it, but relatively easy to access and clean. Powerful, utterly reliable, versatile, well-built tractor. Highly recommend!"
"I have been using this tractor to mow 5 acres, since 1995, and never have had any problems. It has a 54" center mounted deck. I had one repair, involving a broken bolt on the exhaust system, and that's about it. I expect it to run for many more years. I have also used it to pull debris from gullies, including mesh fences grown through with saplings. With the deck properly set up, and sharp blades, it does a first rate job of mowing. Oklahoma late summers have been hot and dry for a few years, and the grass becomes dormant and requires less mowing. I have around 400 hours on this tractor. "
"John Deere really outdid themselves with the X595. Once you get passed all the plastic, it is a fine machine---more than capable. Can't wait to get the 47" front mount blower. "
"I bought this tractor to replace a 25 year old 20 hp Bolens tractor. I still have the Bolens its seeing 25 years of age and I wanted something reliable. This tractor had 160 hours on it last year and now 215+. I mow 2 acres and have a 62" deck. The only thing I put a new battery in. This tractor is probably a over kill for me. I wanted a good tractor brand like John Deere and 4wd and diesel. I thought this was a great buy with 160 hrs. for $6700.00. I was hoping when I bought it last year it wasn't a lemon. As for doing work on this tractor it looks easy to work on the engine. A first when I wanted to replace the battery it is up in front under the hood and looked hard to get at. I looked a removing the hood. When the hood was removed It was a a snap to work on. A ten year old could do it. Other attachments I would like would be a loader or plow. I would love a snow blower but our driveway is 50' long and have a 8 hp Ariens. If the drive way was longer I could justify the blower. On the older Bolens I had a blower a it was a quite a bit of work every year to put it on and off to do a 50' driveway. Getting back to X595: runs great, good power mowing, easy on fuel, great cut with 62" deck, drives like a car with power steering. I can't say anything bad about this tractor. I believe you get what you pay for. If you go to Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, etc and pay 2k a tractor and hope you can get parts and service."
"This tractor, with 62" mowing deck, FEL, 47" snow blower and snow blade along with soft-cab works all year long. I have put over 700 hrs on it in less than 6 years and am still surprised by it's ability to manage jobs much larger than its size. My only wish would be for a slightly stronger FEL i.e. more power and quicker lift, other than this it is perfect for my needs."
"I mow some 5 to 6 acres with this tractor and its performance is super. I used to use a flail mower on my ford 4600 for the large areas away from the house and a Deere LX178 around the house, but this tractor is a lot more comfortable than those and makes mowing a pleasure. I have a 54" deck with gator blades and it works good. The diesel engine runs great and is easy on fuel. This unit has 4wd, but I rarely need it as the traction is very good without it. However, when I hauled my heavy commercial leaf vacuum through a recently tilled muddy garden and it bogged, the 4wd pulled it easily. This toy even has an adjustable steering wheel and cruise control. There's Deere and then there's everything else."
"It is too early to confirm all of these ratings, but I have been removing tree trunks and branches from underbrush and moving fair sized rocks and some mowing with great success. I have 2 acres of very steep land that is 70% trees: fir, cedar, and arbutus. There is some lawn but my main need for the tractor is keeping our 1000 ft driveway, at 15 to 17% grade, clear of snow this winter. I am hoping the front loader and rear blade will do the job."
"I bought this tractor new with a cab soft-side cab that I installed myself. For implements I have the 47 inch two stage snow blower w/work lights, a front end loader, 62 inch belly mower, a powered rear bagger cart, a 3 point ballast box, a category one 3 point hitch, mid pto for snow blower or broom, quick hitch for snow blower, cab heater, dethatcher, aerator and engine block heater. This has been a very good tractor and the three cylinder Yanmar diesel engine is powerful extremely efficient on fuel. I wish I had of included the rear PTO when new for use with a tiller but I could not justify the $800 quoted price a year after the initial purchase. The snowblower is used extensively every winter and does a fantastic job and with it being a garden tractor it can fit into tight spaces and do sidewalks. The heated cab makes it nice also when the temperature is below zero and the wind is whipping. Garage kept and an engine block heater makes it ready to go instantly and the heater is also putting our warm air on those frigid 3AM mornings. I rated it 4 stars because engineering issues required modifications to install the factory cab, dash lighting is needed, instruction manuals need to be written in a more clear and precise manner, use of 12 volt outlet prevents using the cup holder. I change the oil and filter every 25 hours versus the 50 recommended hours because the engine is run at maximum rpm 90 percent of the time which is required and recommended in the owner's manual to run the powered implements. Also included are a couple of pictures of my John Deere HPX diesel Gator. "
"I bought this tractor new in 2004 at Coker Tractor in Arab, AL. I live in Wisconsin, I shopped around and Coker had the best price and made it well worth the drive to go pick it up. I bought it with the cab, heater, windshield wiper, loader, engine block heater, ballast box, snow blower and 54" mower. One hiccup was I had ordered the hard cab but when I got back home I had the soft shell doors and the hard shell doors and the velcro attached glass not the hard shell glass. The dealer refunded $750 which I was happy with. I have been very happy with this tractor. I use it year round for my own personal landscaping, mowing, snowblowing. A friend and I made some homemade forks that slip into the bucket and work perfect for lifting heavy items. I do all my own maintenance changing the engine oil every 25 hours. Change the hydraulic fluid for the first time at 400 hours and it looked just like the new fluid. I have been very pleased with this tractor."
"Only had the mower for 1 month. Very happy Strong build starts 1st time every time. I also purchased slasher it handles long thick grass easily. I will update review in 6 months time. I have run into a wall and nearly off a small cliff, so I don't like the position of the brake pedal it sits 12 inches higher than the accelerator pedal which is totally different to driving a automatic car where you just take your foot of accelerator and put on brake pedal right next to it."
