"I have a 2015 DS4510HS with 200 hours on it. I work it in a mountainous area in East Tennessee. My shuttle linkage has broken and needed dealer repair four times. This is very dangerous in mountainous areas. The hydraulic shuttle does not work as a hydraulic shuttle. It requires me to come to a stop and depress the clutch before i can shift. I am still waiting for resolution from Kioti. I Will update."

"I thought I was purchasing an excellent tractor for a small horse operation. It was mostly used to groom the arena up to 3 times a day. I don't have a front-end loader or a backhoe. With under 200 hours the reserve stopped working. That is so odd since it is put into reverse 3 or 4 times a day for a few seconds to park it. Finally, I found a tractor dealer who could work on it. He said he wouldn't own a Kioti after all the work he has had to put on them and his company sells them. This should have never happened with the minimal work this machine does and having it supposedly under warranty. I am sorry I purchased it, very disappointed and now wanting to sell it. "

"I just bought a Kioti DS4510HS and have used it about 5 hours so these are only initial impressions. I’ve worked with several other machines (listed below) and these are more references for comparison. So far, I am entirely pleased with this purchase. However, there are many things about this tractor than you can’t learn from tractordata.com or that are miscommunicated / poorly communicated on other internet sources. I will focus on these issues. Coparitors: JD 110TLB, JD4300 (hydro), Kioti LB1914 (mechanical shuttle), Bobcat 300T, Satoh Buck & Beaver (gear). - engine torque characteristics are wonderful – torque seems flat from idle (1000 RPM) to the 1700 RPM rated torque peak (~104 ft-pouds). Torque gradually decreases at faster engine speeds. Usability at low engine speeds was a pleasant surprise for me as it was not the case with the Kioti LB1914 or JD4300, both of which seem to need to rev at least to the mid teens to do real work. - loader hydraulics are very usable at idle. 1st gear at idle is 0.4 mph and this is perfect for pushing into piles. Loader responsiveness at idle is well matched to the 0.4 mph speed and has never failed to curl and lift while idling forward into a pile of wet soil. Can lift rear at idle. -visibility to the bucket seems better than most other tractors. The JD 110TLB is the notable exception. The 110TLB has the best forward visibility of any loader tactor I've driven. However, the left hand hydraulic shuttle on the DS4510HS allows me to stand and at 6’3” I can see the leading edge of the bucket and operate the hydraulic reverser with my left hand with both feet flat on the floor. This gives me skid steer like visibility for fine bucket work. You can’t do that with a hydrostatic tranny without standing on one foot. -Stability is impressive. - factory tow bar rated at 1650 pounds tongue weight (a hard to find spec that is important to some including me) - turning radius is tight making this large frame CUT maneuver in the woods better than expected. -seat position too cramped for 6’3” operator. This was easily fixed by fabricating new seat mounting brackets that raise the seat 2” and move it back 2.5”. Now the seat is perfect for me in the rear most position. -Screaming value at 19.5K new with 4 yr warrantee for a 45hp large frame CUT with hydraulic reverser. -This is marketed as a value tractor. If you are looking for amenities look else ware (for example no cup holder). I will not mark this tractor down for this fact because it is not marketed as a premium tractor. A reverser with twin multi disk hydraulic clutches is one more amenity than I ever expected on a value tractor in this price range. - Main tranny is NOT Synchronize – this is poorly communicated on the Kioti web site and mis-communicated by some professional reviews. This means you have to come to a stop or close to a stop to change gears. If you understand how collar shift transmissions work, you can double clutch / rev match to shift on the fly. Many a farmer has been doing this for years. Upshifts are easily learned by most. Down shifts especially on rolling terrain only mastered by a few. -hydraulic reverser not idiot proof – you must pause for a moment in neutral otherwise you can sometimes get a strange noise which I think occurs if the current clutch pack does not have time to entirely disengage before the opposite direction clutch back engages. For this reason I wouldn’t recommend this tranny for people with irresponsible employees. Bottom line – this is a lot of tractor for the money. It can work very well for the mechanically minded operator. However, it is not simple to operate well the way a hydrostatic tranny is simple to operate well. For the experienced / coordinated operator, it can be nearly as efficient as a hydrostatic tranny tractor. For the inexperienced / mechanically challenged operator, it will be much, much slower to operate than a hydrostatic machine. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: low RPM engine torque, HS tranny, stability, loader hydraulics at low RPM Cons: 4wd can be hard to engage, non-synchronized main gear box, fuel fill is high on hood Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA PA I also considered buying: John Deere 5055E, Kioti DK40SE HST, Mahindra 4035 PST

"My Kioti tractor has been and still is a working machine. But when I first got my Kioti the wire system went on fire (melt down), the reason was the small thin wire that goes to the battery neg.side kept getting hot. The wire system was repaired new from the dealer under warranty. I changed that small wire that has been on the ground neg.battery to the frame ground and never had a problem. If you have this on your kioti do yourself a big favor take that small wire off your battery neg. side and attach it to the frame of the tractor. Make sure you have a good clean ground side of the frame."

"I got this in northern California. My review of this tractor is influenced by the TYM T450 45HP I had prior to this. Both tractors have pros and cons. As for this tractor, overall it's a good tractor, but I didn't rate it 5 for the following reasons. Some of the metal parts are crooked/not squared before they welded them in place. When I work with implements and have the brakes set, the tail lights get so hot, the light lens warp from the heat & leak water/dust. The PTO switch has had a faulty connection since the start. The 1st week I had my Kioti, I worked with my PTO chipper on a 10-13% grade chipping brush. - Some of the battery acid leaked out and ate the paint off the front floor and part of the grill (my TYM had a heavy duty maintenance free battery & they don't leak). When I asked for some new lens and paint products to be sent, the dealer wanted me to make the 4.5 hour trip up (about $250 fuel times 2), drop the tractor off for a week and then pick it up. I took care of it at my own expense. Some of the zerk fittings are hard to get at (grease blobs), but some of the TYM and others are too. The lower frame work seems a little light. The fender turn signal light supports are fragile so I made shrouds to protect them out of 16ga sheet metal & painted them orange or they might be missing by now from a tree limb (I did the same thing with the TYM). The operators manual is a bit skimpy. TYM gave me a CD with the operators manual, parts manual and service manual all very complete and can be printed out in book form. The rear hydraulics were optional on Kioti, but came with the TYM (as well as 2 speed PTO & a dual element air filter). I like the tractor and would buy one again. I compared it to a Kubota and feel it matches or exceeds their ratings and specs. The tractor is overall pretty solid, works hard (just like me), is easy enough to service, isn't too hard on the eyes and runs my PTO implements pretty well. The TYM has a PTO electric solenoid down underneath that would trip stopping the PTO from operating and had to be reset with an awl or pointed object occasionally (had to get down under the tractor on your back to do it). I also like the flip up seat and the built-in tool box behind the seat on the Kioti."

Pros: Works hard, flip-up seat, tool box, easy to service. Cons: Tail light lens damage, battery acid leakage, quality control. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA CA I also considered buying:

"Purchased my Kioti after considering buying another Kubota (an L4400) . My priority was to get as much HP as I required and to also obtain a new loader, 4 in 1 bucket and slasher (brush hog). For my needs a gear transmission tractor with minimal extra features was fine. The design of the Kioti was pretty similar to my old Kubota so I was confident of being able to undertake any future mechanical repairs myself. The loader, 4 in 1 bucket, 5ft slasher package with the Kioti was considerably better value than the Kubota and the build quality and finish seemed more than equivalent. The Kioti had more extra standard features and price for parts were cheaper. The Kioti dealer knew his tractors and was keen for a sale. I was offered a free 50hr on farm service as well as on farm warranty for any repairs. The dealer also threw in a free General Purpose bucket. I purchased a sun canopy as there is a lot of hot weather here. Apart from a faulty engine stop solenoid problem on delivery day (replaced within 12 hours) the tractor has been completely reliable. I have worked it very hard after the initial 20hr run in, slashing very steep as well as flat subtropical acres of 3ft grass pasture. I also move quite a bit of fallen timber across slopes I have used the loader in quite deep mud for cleaning up my creek crossings and carried several ton of rock and rubble as well as leveling and grading my driveway. With horse pastures, creek crossings and heavy rainfall I have chosen not to load the tires. The DS4510 is very stable on slopes with a loader on front and 650lb slasher at rear. Loading full buckets of rock has been fine without loaded tires but again, with the slasher always on for counter weight. The Ansung A41 loader has plenty of lift capacity (1600lb max) however you will require more counter weight or loaded tires, when lifting maximum loads. The 8F/8R transmission is more than adequate for my needs. If anything Low 1 could be a little slower. I was initially undecided about the Hydraulic Shuttle but, as the extra cost was minimal, I decided to get it. Being familiar with a regular gear change transmission, the shuttle took a bit of getting used to. There is little documentation in the otherwise excellent manual, about the hydraulic shuttle but thanks to the good folk on this forum I have learned how to make best use of it I now find the hydraulic shuttle very convenient and am glad I selected it. The transmission fluid needs to be warmed up a little prior to using the shuttle. You always have the option of using the foot clutch when it suits. The engine has been strong and reliable starting first time, even without pre-heat, in a very warm climate. One of the nicest features is the large metal built in toolbox and storage area behind the seat. At 125 hours the tractor so far has turned out to be pretty much as I had expected."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Value for money, durability, good attention to finish. Cons: A few less features. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: AUS OT I also considered buying: Kubota L4400

"I bought this tractor for working in my small woodlot, to assist building a new house and laneway and maintian the lane. It is a good little, bare bones tractor with a few issues ( i have had years of farm tractor owning and operating experience). I have the loader on it. The pre-heater works well, especially the option to keep heating as the tractor warms up. It has been hard starting 2x, but it has spent the winter outdoors. Linkage for the 4wheel drive and hi/lo had gotten stiff but application of lube and freeing up the linkage has helped. The 3 pt hitch is bare bones and I miss extendable links when hooking up the scraper and bush hog. Steers well, excellent power and hydraulic power. It would lift the rear wheels off the ground (very quickly!) prior to filling the rears. The plastic hood has taken some BIG hits from falling tree tops (pushing over dead pines in a rush- bad idea) and shows no damage. Side panels are flimsy. A link in the loader control and the fuel cap broke but the dealer is looking after it. "
