I like the tractor well except for the rear lift, it jerks when trying to raise slowly. Will not raise smooth at all whether loaded or unloaded. Bad lift on a would be good tractor.

Pros: good power & traction
Cons: jerkie lift....bad lift,don't like the rear lift,not smooth at all

My First Tractor... MX5100 HST

I'm new to this tractor stuff, however the 5100 felt solid and is easy to learn and use. I have the HST transmission which is awesome. It makes work a lot easier and faster. Kubota should add a couple of creature comforts to the 5100; a tilt steering wheel and an upgraded seat similar to the Grand L series (arm rests w/ swivel feature). My only real complaint is the Kubota dealer practices. I was considering two other Kubota's, the 4240 Grand L and the 4720 Grand L. Sales reps from two different dealers told me there were none to be found in south east Texas (I would have to order one). When I checked around on my own, I was able to locate several within 200 miles of Houston. Neither of the two dealers I was working with were capable of getting either of the other tractors... I would have purchased the 4720 if they could have got it by Friday (05/28). Both dealers seemed more interested in selling me what was on their lot rather than getting the tractor I wanted. I had test driven the MX5100 several times at both dealers, but could not compare it to the others I was considering. I was weary of shopping so I made the decision to go with the 5100. From a customers standpoint, this was an extremely frustrating experience.

Pros: Strong tractor, easy to use and set up extremly well for servicing, etc.
Cons: Ergonomics need a little modification; tilt steering wheel/collumn; upgraded seat w/ armrests; joy stick for FEL needs to be set up closer to operators arm/hand.

MX5100 - with loader

The first job the tractor did for me was to bush hog about 50 acres that had been growing nearly two years. I was very impressed with the power and was pleased with the easy steering. The loader sticking way out front took some getting used to. I know it could have been removed, but I didn't think it was necessary. I had read about the location of the PTO lever, but it hasn't caused me a lot of problem. The MF 35 I had for years required me to reach way down to the side, so a reach back a little didn't bother me. My biggest concern is the weight the loader adds to the front. I have used it to move old brushpiles from Hurricane Katrina and I can tell the front end can get heavy quick. I am looking at adding water to the rear tires and believe this should help this. I am sure big round haybales will require this weight on the back. I know I will always use the back spear first before the front end for hay.

Pros: Lots of Power, easy turning, independent PTO
Cons: Light rear end when using the loade

Awesome Tractor

I farm for deer and turkey pretty much year round. I love to do tractor work, and just plain being on one! I've had a New Holland TC35 since 2005 and with a loader on it, i have created some nice food plots! The TC35 is a good tractor, but the nearest dealer from me is 70+miles from my home. They closed two dealerships that were closer to me. I wanted a tractor with a little more horse power, and I have found it with Kubota! I traded the TC35 for the MX5100.

Pros: Strong Loader, lots of horse power, Kubota Reliability.
Cons: 3-point hitch a litte jerky when lifting implements.

I am really enjoying my new tractor, even though I have very little seat time on it so far. The HST is definitely the only model for me. I have been doing some land clearing, a lot of small shrub oak removal, and it is amazing at the accuracy that the HST operates on. I also have a Land Pride garding scraper that is really good for smoothing and leveling my long driveway, and the tractor handles it very well. I would buy it again, given the chance.

Pros: HST, quiet engine, excellent loader, 4X4, R4 tires.
Cons: PTO switch in unusual spot, needs a floor mat, and could use arm rests.

Kubota MX5100 Review

I am a "first time" tractor buyer / owner. My MX5100 is the HST Model with a front end loader, canopy, quick disconnect bucket and two additional rear hydraulic hookups. So far the tractor itself is awesome. I can't say that for the Kubota dealers, not even the one I ended up buying from. In the Houston, Texas area the selection of tractors on the lots was not very good and to make it worse the dealers played a lot of "hide and seek" with the inventory they did have. Always trying to insure that you bought the tractor from their dealership. This meant that the customer had to spend a great deal of time on the phone and driving to different dealers to see what models where actually on a particular dealers lot. I caught dealers misleading each other about their inventories to other dealers. I am assuming that because when I called looking for a particular model, it suddenly appeared, "Come on out and see us" they would tell me. I was so disgusted with the buying process I was tempted to drop the whole deal. However Kubota's "0%" financing was just too good to pass up. Then to top off this exasperating experience when my brush hog and box blade arrived (approx. 3 weeks after deal signed) the dealer did not put them together completely nor did they bother to show me what I needed to do make them usable. Just a brief note: the dealer practices were unprofessional and frustrating, but the salesmen, particularly "Josh", the guy that sold me my tractor were great. He tried his best to make up for the issues I was having. He is probably the only reason I didn't "nix" the deal.

Pros: MX5100 so far has performed flawlessly. HST tranny is strong and forgiving.
Cons: More factory options should be available on the MX5100 - a seat with arm rests for instance. However the biggest "con" I found was the dealers. I'm very disapointed.

I have had this tractor for about 2 years now, and I am very impressed. This tractor size for size will out work any other tractor I have ever used. Yeah, that's right, even the green ones. My neighbor has a 55 horsepower john deer and needless to say he is not happy about the extra 10,000.00 he spent on a green paint job. The Kubota will just flat out work it. And now that Kubota is getting into the bigger mid size AG tractors. John Deer better step it up or they will fall behind, they already are in the 50 to 75 horse power range.

Pros: Reliability, price, & dependability.
Cons: Needs to have 3 point controls in the rear, like the 100 plus horsepower tractors do.

Kubota MX5100 HST

A very good experience so far. Being a taller guy we raised the seat up for a more comfortable position, and to make the HST pedal a little less awkward. Don't even consider a front end loader without getting a 4X4. Even with ballast in the tires, the heavy front weight bias makes it helpless when pushing with the loader in 4X2 mode. The cruise control lever won't stay in engaged position, it eases back slowing the tractor.

Pros: Compact size, power.
Cons: Compact size, small fuel tank, needs warning light for parking brake on.

Kubota MX5100

This is my 2nd Kubota tractor, the first was the L2900 (1997) 4WD. It performed flawlessly for 14 years and had an excellent resale value. So far, this machine, MX5100 4WD, HST, has proven to be a truly amazing machine with incredible power and traction (R4 tires). However, it is extremely noisy and makes some rather disconcerting rear end and transmission noises. The dealer has been out and assured me that it is fine and that if something does go wrong and the almost never do with Kubotas that they will make it good.

Pros: Power, traction, utility.
Cons: Noisy.

1st Time owner

I can only offer 1st impression since I've only put 5 hours on the clock. I purchased as a leftover discounted 2010 4wd/R1 tires with 844 loader and light duty bucket. This is a gear model. I looked at HST's and would have bought one, but this one had a great discount and I had to seriously think about what my primary uses would be to make this choice. So far, I don't regret it after doing some loader work, box scraping and brush cutting. Once my mini farm is settled in, I'll be using it mostly for pasture cutting and maintaining a gravel driveway. The shuttle shift has just a little bit of a catch in it when I change from forward to back then back to forward. I may look into adjusting the clutch throw just a bit to see if that clears it up. Otherwise it operates as expected.

Pros: Solid machine.
Cons: Could be heavier.
