My first tractor
Model Year: 2009
We bought our house with 37 acres and a pond. We decided we needed a tiller to prepare a substantial garden and a brush hog to keep a huge meadow under control. The tractor has performed these tasks admirably. I first used the FEL to move nearly 100 boxes of household goods from the barn to the house a few at a time to unpack. The tiller worked very well preparing our garden last year, and I've just tilled the garden for this year. I cleared about 25 acres of brush using the brush hog, and cleared all the small saplings with ease. I have had only a few problems, and the dealer has been very helpful. My biggest problem has been changing the attachments to the 3 point hitch. I'm getting better at it, but it's still an agonizing experience. My friends who have other tractor brands have the same problem so it's not a ding on Kubota. The lever that engages the PTO sometimes doesn't always disengage the interlock switch, so I have to hold it manually back in order to start the tractor. I guess it's just an adjustment which I'll have the dealer do when it's time for maintenance. I can't speak to its snow removal capacity. We had a lot of snow this winter, but the barn door was frozen shut, so I had to get someone else to plow my half-mile long winding uphill driveway. All in all, it's what I (and I suspect most guys) have always wanted - acreage and a tractor.
