25 Acre Forest /Brush/ Home Landscaping
by Bruce Ingmire
Model year: 2014Date Purchased: 2014-05-02Number of Hours: 90
"It handles a bush hog , box blade and front end loader extremely well. There is ample power and 4-wheel drive is a must.
To offset the imbalance of the front end load, I added weight to the box blade. It handles great in tight places; HST is awesome.
A wider stance of rear wheels would help in stability on slopes, especially with front end heavy loads. A rear light should be standard, but it is easy to add on. The small toolbox has been replaced with an ammo can."

"This is a tractor that should have got it right. I have been having a problem with starting and it appears it is not uncommon from searching Google.
The problem comes from the starter relay. This would be an extremely simple problem to diagnose if it weren't for the absolutely stupid location of all the relays, which is the very last place you would want to check as it requires pulling off the steering wheel. Good luck with that if you don't have a puller and don't want to damage anything, the starter switch, light and hazard switches, the dash cowl (requiring the linkage to the throttle control to be disconnected so it turns to the stop), the instrument panel then you can pull off the relay (Second from right) and check it.
The electrical check is relatively simple and takes about 30 seconds with a multimeter. The problem is likely to be just dirty contacts. My system seems very sensitive as the contacts looked okay but all that was required was to reseat the plug and give the whole area a good clean. I question the mentality of the designers when they locate critical electrical parts in inaccessible places open to dust and NO Maintenance capability. It is frustrating to see a great little tractor let down by a stupid design.
REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Pros: Compact and versatileCons: Inaccessible relay bank, one side entry and exit (potentially dangerous)Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 AcresLocation: AUS OTI also considered buying: REVIEWER'S PHOTOS
Perfect Tractor For My Vineyard
Model year: 2010Date Purchased: 2010-12-10Number of Hours: 1010
"I purchased this tractor to build and take care of a 20 acre vineyard in Oregon and it's been a perfect machine for the job. I've carried 3,000 pounds of water in containers front and rear and drilled 70 fence posts, moved dirt, hauled way too heavy oak tree limbs and abused it in every way to get the jobs done and it has run flawlessly.
It is the best piece of equipment I've ever owned. The next one will be a Kubota M8540 narrow cab vineyard tractor, but I'll keep the L3800 for mowing and thrashing. "
REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Pros: Great price, powerful for it's size, dependableCons: Wish it had and electric power take-off controlType of User: Commercial FarmerLocation: USA ORI also considered buying: Kubota M8540 Narrow REVIEWER'S PHOTOS

"To the person with the bad review based on the tractor being a danger to operate, learn how to properly equip and use a tractor. The manual states that there needs to be a rear ballast for safe loader operation. All tractors need rear ballasts for safe loader operation.
My tractor is identical to your tractor. I have rim guard loaded rears and never have had the issues you have. I often have a 7-foot back blade on it as well. I rarely even need 4x4 with this set up. My tractor is exclusively used for digging, pushing dirt, tree removal and snow removal. As far as the front axle leaking, that is an issue that your dealer should take care of. It’s not normal on a tractor that new. Mine does not leak. It has low hours but it is still nearly 5 years old. Find a different dealer or call corporate to get it resolved.
REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Pros: Powerful, fuel efficient, reliableCons: Steering brakes are unusable because the hydrostat pedal is on the same sideType of User: Homeowner 10-50 AcresLocation: USA MII also considered buying: REVIEWER'S PHOTOS
Right Choice For My Projects
by Merv Harris
Model year: 2014Date Purchased: 2014-12-17Number of Hours: 70
"While waiting for delivery, I procrastinated about whether I needed a bigger tractor. I needn't have worried, as I am more than happy with all around performance. I have been using to dig out really, REALLY, big Gum Tree Stumps and have filled in an old dam. HST is great for FEL work and the backhoe is a weapon.
Unfortunately, my golf game is suffering as I'd rather be on the 'Bota'"
REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Pros: All around ability, great hydraulics and can't break itCons: My golf game. Mind you tilt steering wheel would be good?Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 AcresLocation: AUS OTI also considered buying: John Deere 3038E REVIEWER'S PHOTOS

"Not for one moment have I regretted buying this machine with front loader with bucket, forks and pallet forks.
It is used for muck spreading, flailing, topping, fertilizing, apple picking, toting and splitting logs and all the normal bucket work. I have longer muck forks than the normal Kubota ones from choice. The folding ROPS makes shed work easy and that is the draw back with the machine I have just bought which is the 4240 and which, in the UK, you can only get with a cab.
My son-in-law now has the 3830. "
REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Pros: It has a fabulous turning circle and with the wheels set at their widest, an excellent sense of balance on quite tricky hills/slopes. The shuttle is great. Kubota L3800 8X8 4WD w/5" bucket
Model year: 2013Date Purchased: 2013-11-20Number of Hours: 156
"I purchased this tractor to keep down the underbrush and to clean up the property. It has exceeded my expectations. First I purchased a quick hitch system. Something well worth the money. Then I have purchased more implements for it now. I now have a 5' disk, 5' bush hog, 6' tiller, 500# broadcaster, two row JD planter and a post hole digger. It has done everything and more that I have tried to do with it. I have 10 acres and have some wet areas. Thankful I purchased the 4WD model."
REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Pros: Strong engine, pulls great, PTO exceeds factory levels of HP, 4WD is fantasticCons: None does it all for what it is.Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 AcresLocation: USA MSI also considered buying: Massey Ferguson 3645, LS Tractor G3038, Cub Cadet Yanmar SX3100 REVIEWER'S PHOTOS
L3800 HST at 220 Hrs. Model Yr. 2013

"Nice tractor and I'm pleased with the purchase. Sometimes I wish I went bigger so I could comfortably pull 6 foot attachments rather than 5 foot attachments. It's four-wheel-drive, of course.
Easy to drive. Both my wife and daughter who can barely push a lawnmower can Bush hog my yard with no problems. Have had no issues with the tractor so far. I have a woods Bush hog that I told behind it. I have the L front and loader that comes with it as an option."
REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Pros: Name-brand. Easy to get parts. Reliable. Cons: I wish the Kubota online website was more robust with information. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 AcresLocation: USA TNI also considered buying: New Holland Boomer 35, Kubota L3200 HST REVIEWER'S PHOTOS
Kubota L3800DT: A Good Little, Multi-Purpose Utility Tractor

"Bought this because I needed a Front End Loader Tractor that had the ability to handle any small to moderate task. With the L-544 Front Loader added to this, I can clean out my barns and easily transport the 4x5 1/2 round bales to where I need them. Don't get me wrong, this is not going to double stack bales in the barn or lift great big loads, but it will handle a 5-ft. Howse bushhog and a 3-point PTO driven posthole auger. It is a strain on it to pull a 2-bottom 14 inch Dearborn plow, but I also plow as deep as the 3-point will drop and allow."
REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Pros: Versatile. Smaller size makes for easier maneuverability, especially in and around the barn. Seems to be easy on fuel (diesel) so far, controls are very handily located.Cons: Would like to see a bit more engine power so unit could have a heavier stance. Power to weight ratio as is, makes it easy to get into trouble if not really paying attention.Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 AcresLocation: USA MOI also considered buying: REVIEWER'S PHOTOS
