"Repair history: After 150 hours it split the suction hydraulic hose ($34 at the Kubota dealer). The hose was a weird shape about 10 inches long to the right of the transmission pedal. That was an easy fix. The only other problem is a stuck fuel gauge (300 hours). I am trying to diagnose it. It could be the fuel sending unit buried inside the fuel tank."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Well built, very little plastic like a John Deere Cons: Fuel send unit should have lasted longer Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA ID I also considered buying: Caterpillar 35

"This is a fantastic unit. It plows snow, puts in fence posts, bushhogs, pulls logs with my Farmi 351P woods winch, and sips diesel fuel It is the most fuel efficient engine on any tractor I have operated. The original battery lasted seve years! My only complaint is that the paint on the loader( LA463, made in Sweden) has faded while the paint on hood and fenders has stood up pretty well, considering that its parked outside most of the time In a nut shell, there has never been any other piece of equipment, including any truck/car that I have owned in my 59 years, that has matched the quality and value of this L3400. "

Pros: Excellence in everything! Cons: Loader paint Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: CND OT I also considered buying:

"I have had the tractor since it was new and it has been a great little tractor for the period that I've had it. It is very economical to run. The spare parts, if you are buying them from the dealership, are expensive. I paid $70.75 for just the hydraulic filter, and now I buy from some where else. The gears are the only thing that grinds on the odd occasion even with the clutch in. Very happy with it."

Pros: Reliable and economical to run Cons: Gears not that smooth Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: AUS OT I also considered buying:

"I shopped online and priced many brands of tractors. For the money it's hard to beat Kubota. I purchased it with a front loader and the backhoe attachment, as well as a brush hog and a sickle bar mower and a post hole auger. Had only one small issue the 1st year. I pin holding the front end loader in place worked it way loose. Luckily I saw it before any damage was done. The tractor is a pretty good workhorse. I have 38 acres that had not been very well maintained before I bought it. Lot of it on hillside covered with trees. Bought a rear blade and cut a road up the side of the hill, harvested a lot of firewood. Put in many hundreds of feet drainage ditches with the backhoe. it's 7 years old now, and I have had to work on the hydraulics, replace a couple of hoses. The fuel pump has started to leak, so that's on the get it fixed list. In 7 years I don't consider it abnormal if the equipment is used much at all."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: good economy on fuel, good pulling power Cons: no area for a toolbox Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA VA I also considered buying:

"great tractor! only 30 hp but with 4 wheel drive it has done everything a larger machine can do. Front end loader is 5ft wide. It can move some dirt but only a small amount at a time. But hey, if you have the time.... It doesn't have the fancy transmission, so you need to stop to shift gears or it grinds gears, but I don't have to use the fancy [expensive] Hydrolic oil. I am very happy with my little tractor."

Pros: 4wheel drive goes anywhere Cons: no shade, small front end loader Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA TN I also considered buying:

"Don't get me wrong. I love this tractor. Stepping up from a Ferguson TEA20, it's just so much nicer having all the mod cons like breaks and steering. The reason I've being delaying writing this review is I'm not sure what to write. I've had the tractor over 6 months now, and used all my implements with it, and had no issues at all. So I've nothing to complain about, but also nothing to report. I guess I could say that it's completed every task I've thrown at it so far without a sweat. A few notes: - The bonnet grill and side vents have holes that are reasonably large. When you're slashing, or stirring up dust, the grass seeds and crap goes straight through those holes and into the radiator guard screen, which clogs up pretty rapidly. Two hours of slashing in long dry grass and you'll be watching the temperature gauge climb quickly. I think I'll silicone some wire fly screen on the inside of the engine bay there to reduce the effective size of those holes in the longer term - Needs a few extra things.. like a 12V outlet on the back. Synchro on the box would be nice too. In Australia you have to part with big money to get a decent tractor, so I was a bit surprised it doesn't have a synchro box. - The 4WD is fantastic.. I would never buy a 2WD tractor again - Same goes for the power steering and tight turning circle. You need a crazy tight turning circle when you have a loader hanging off the front. - I've used it with a 6' grader blade, 4' slasher, 6" auger, PTO chipper, and a ripper/pipe layer. Always works a charm and runs the slasher really well."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Great 4WD, always gets the job done. Cons: Lacks wow factor. Needs accessories. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: AUS OT I also considered buying:

"Good compact tractor. About 35 HP. I'm pretty hard on it and other than getting stuck in mud and snow (operator error) it hasn't let me down. Loaded R4 tires are a blessing and a curse."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Compact and maneuverable. Cons: No hydraulic connections. Type of User: Homeowner 50-100 Acres Location: USA NY I also considered buying: Case-IH 35, New Holland Boomer 35
