"This is one of five tractors on my farm. I use it for bed-shaping and one-bed tillage. I bought it used as a rental return with 105 hours on the clock. I'm on my third alternator. Other than that, it has been reliable. The column shift for the shuttle transmission is a Rube Goldberg sort of structure with a lot of friction to it. A floor shift would be simpler and more dependable. The two-speed power take-off is a major plus, as I use the 1000 rpm option with a rototiller for shallow tillage preparing a seedbed. (My Kubota 245H has a three-speed PTO!)"
"I purchased this little beauty well used (over 4000 hours) and am amazed at how reliable it is. So far I have only had three issues with the machine---a hydraulic line leak, a fan blade bearing squealing (I should fix that some day) and having to bleed the heck out of the fuel system after running her out of diesel. Can't really blame the machine for that one. The shuttle shift is all gear driven which can be a little hard on the user sometimes (getting it in gear with a load hooked on or holding the tractor steady while changing gear under load) but works fine overall. Having eight gears forward and reverse is nice. The engine starts first revolution every time regardless of weather. Due to the high hours there is some smoke for 30-45 seconds then it clears right up. I pull a 5' brush hog, finish mower and box blade as well as a 6' angle blade, the tractor handles each very well and I never have to rev the engine past a comfortable 2000 RPM."
"Good overall tractor but does not have a lot of features like rear remotes. It has the shuttle shift trans, which works well. I have a LA650 loader on it that works excellent. It handles my 6' bush hog okay but I would recommend a 5' just because of the weight."
"This Kubota fits into the "no frills, little beaut" category. It always starts well and has never let me down. It has the manual gears not the shuttle shift so shifting is slower but livable. The only failure has been one hydraulic hose that blew early on but was simple to replace. I now need new rear tires and find they are an odd ball size and am having difficulty finding them 13.6 - 24. And the bucket has rusted out - probably my fault for leaving the tractor outside with the bucket up so water collected in it. I have a sun roof mounted to the roll bar, which I would recommend to everyone - it makes life better in the rain or hot sun. I have used this with an 8' backhoe mounted on the three point hitch (not easy to set up!); rotovator; plow; harrows; roller; 8' landscape rake; 6' brush cutter. It handles all with noise but ease. I have decided it is cheaper to run this into the ground and buy again than to have it serviced by the local Kubota dealer."
