"My father and I co-purchased this machine ten years ago to supplement our Perkins powered Massey 65, which is a great mowing and tilling tractor, but is not ideal for loader and hay work. The redesigned Mahindra models were somewhat new at the time, but our local dealer is very honest and spoke highly of them, so we decided to give them a shot. We are glad we did. This tractor does not have many hours on it, but they are all hard hours. The tractor is rarely used for easy tasks like mowing. It is used on a working goat farm for loading hay, tilling, fence work, and grading. The strong build of the chassis and axles has come in very handy. We have accomplished tasks that would not have been possible for a lesser tractor in this class. The hydraulics are very strong, if a bit slow. We perform our own maintenance and almost all items are easy to get to. Our only complaints with the tractor is that the brakes sometimes like to hang and the gauges will sometimes take a few minutes to start working. We are in a very humid climate and I believe moisture is to blame for both issues. That being said, I would certainly purchase this tractor again. It is simple, strong, and very easy to run."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Strong chassis and hydraulics, easy to operate Cons: Hydraulics are a bit slow, brakes and gauges sometimes touchy Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA TN I also considered buying: Ford 4000, Massey Ferguson 2605

"My dealer stopped selling Mahindra tractors. I called Mahindra. Every time I would ask a question they would say I need to check with my dealer, no matter the question. Each time, I would tell them I have no dealer."

"This tractor is a beast. If I had it to do over, I would have opted for 45 horsepower instead of 40, but the tractor is 4-wheel drive and does everything I need it to do. It has never faltered. My only grip is that half the bulbs have burned out in 140 hours. I bent the front-end loader so it is a little flimsy and I wish I had bought the heavy duty shredder as I am cutting 2-inch plus trees that wreak havoc on the shredder."

"I always have to waste an hour or two trying to get this thing started. I've have this tractor for almost 2 years and I've had more trouble with it than I have in 40 years with a Ford 3000. I doubt seriously if we will be buying anymore Mahindras."

"I bought the tractor with the Mahindra front-end loader, a 6-foot cutter, 6-foot landscaping box and a 20-inch trailer. I have been very impressed with the lifting capability of the front-end loader. Everything seems solid and heavy. It is definitely not state of the art but I like tried and true designs. I added a backhoe later. I also got a skid steer forklift forks and that has been a game changer. I thought the bucket was handy but the forks are handy times two. "

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Heavy, strong, simple Cons: Maintenance, the engine oil drain plugs (yes plugs, there are 2) are almost impossible to get to, the hydraulic screen that you are required to clean at 50 hours makes you dump all your hydraulic fluid when it is removed Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA TN I also considered buying:

"The 4025 is a beast. It easily pulls 6" pine with a front end loader tree puller. It lifts itself with ease on the front end loader. I can send pics of me removing a front tire using it to lift the front-end if someone would like. At close to 7,000 pounds with the front end loader, it pulls whatever you hook it to, within reason. Does it have some rough castings? Yes. Does its paint fade a bit? Yes. Was it worth the money? Absolutely."

"This is old and proven technology. It has a powerful engine, and the weight helps get torque to the ground. It also has good lift capacity, and no problem picking up heavy implements or skidding logs. It will easily pull a six-foot brush-cutter in high weeds and will pull a five foot heavy duty brush cutter in 2" stuff with no problem. The draft control is nice for plow work. The ground speeds are good for most tasks. The fuel consumption is good for this size tractor. Value for the money spent is exceptional. So, what is there not to like? The Indian manufacturer still sports a few rough welds and the paint is prone to fading. The parking brake cable gets caught in brush and the ergonomics aren't on par with Kubota and some other competitors. I'll try to update this review in the future as I put more hours on the tractor (I've already put more hours on it than it had when I bought it), but for right now my opinion is the Mahindra 4025 2-wheel drive will satisfy the person who is looking for a replacement for a tired old 2-wheel drive 40 horsepower tractor, at a price that is within reach of almost anybody."

"I use this tractor for mowing about 6 acres, snow removal, bush hogging, moving dirt, plowing garden, etc. It performed well last fall and was good for snow removal. Minor issue, "quick disconnect" hydraulics are a little bit of a pain, transmission shift is in awkward place, some 3 pt attachments a little difficult. Overall good tractor, so far."

"Tractor is still a great machine. No major issues and it runs great. I have used it to mow pasture, lift hay and straw bales, spread gravel and rocks, and shovel stone and manure It works great. I have to say that despite its weight it slips in mud more easily than I think it should. And, in heavy snow it absolutely needs chains. Past tractors I owned have been much better in mud or snow. I'm thinking it might be the rubber used in Mahindra's tires, these tires are very hard on their surface. This tractor has been great on fuel and oil too. Other than the slipping this tractor was a great buy. I am sorry to find newer purchasers in 2014 have had bad performance issues. "
