"I have driven many tractors from the big to the small. My 2605 is dependable, but the 38.5 horsepower is a good size for general plowing, bucket work, and slashing. The problem I have with it is the exhaust pipe which tends to catch and dislodge with branches and the 4-wheel drive which jumps out when hit by a stick from under the tractor. When I purchased it, the injectors leaked as they were not welded correctly. This was covered by warranty but was an inconvenience. Fuel efficiently is good. It would be better with a dif lock particularly with 4-wheel drive mode. Please install in future models. Otherwise. I love it. Thanks Massey!"
"I bought a brand new Massey 2605 so I would have no issues for some time with a new dependable product. At 90 hours, there was fuel leaking completely out through the injector return line to the tank, as best I could tell. The dealer promised to overnight a replacement line, so as to save me a 180-mile trip to the shop. I've waited many overnights and still nothing. I get excuses each time I call. I am already looking to trade for a John Deere. The higher price may be worth it."
"Purchaced the tractor for finish mowing, light bush hogging, plowing a very small garden, and small odds and ends on 3 acres. It has in the shop 4 times once for sticking in gear and three times for breaking the sheer collar in the drive train. It is currently in the shop for the sheer collar again. It has never broken in a strain always at just above an idle in low gear. Its a nice tractor to look at but don't expect to get alot of work out of it. "
"I have a 2009 2605 diesel, 2WD I bought new in 2010. Recently I bought a Massey Ferguson 1734 round baler and this tractor does wonderful pulling this baler. I use this tractor year round and have little problems with it. I used it to run a New Holland 310 square baler which it pulled without a problem. I am looking to purchase a second 2605."
"This tractor replaced an old Oliver 550 for my wife. My wife uses it for mowing but I use it for plowing, disking, tilling, etc. it works great and sips diesel. I could not be happier with a tractor. It starts very easy and has plenty of power for what we use it for. My wife loves it. The only issue I have is the drum brakes but I knew that when I bought it. Best value of the small utility. I looked at John Deere 5045, and the NH Workmaster 45. I opted for the MF due to weight and sheet metal. Strong tractor."
"Tractor has only 150 hours. Had to work on hydraulic steering, rebuild alternator, and now tractor is in the shop for drivetrain problems. It is not running."
"The MF2605 is a very good utility tractor. The tractor is very reliable and has plenty of power for a tractor with approx.40 hp. The only problem that I have had is sub standard hoses. The hoses on the tractor have cracks, but to date none have leaked. Overall, a very good value for you tractor dollar. This tractor is the largest tractor we have on our Christmas tree farm."
"Have had the tractor for over a year but not many hours on it. So far so good. Traded in a MF 135 for it."
"Great utility tractor does all the jobs I have done with it very well. Mowing, plowing, disking and bush hogging. It was a blast during super storm sandy in 44 inches of wet heavy snow."
"Good tractor for the money. Has done everything i wanted it to do so far. The dealer was great, I delt with. For a 40 HP tractor I would recommend anyone to purchase. You can't beat the price."
