GC2400 Massey Ferguson
Review by: RXX
Model Year: 2010

I gave it 5 stars across the board but in reality some may not be deserved. I have not had enough experience to rate them all. I do like it a lot, but if my wife had bought it I would be driving the more expensive, nicer, John Deere, I am sure. I am a cheap bastard always looking for the deal. I got my money's worth though. I am having a lot of fun with it so I will only give my complaints: A. No tool box. What the hell? Where am I supposed to keep all my stuff? I bolted one on the rear deck right behind the seat and it works well enough. B. Who designed the hydraulic gang for the loader? Holy hell it is hard to connect/disconnect the inboard two connectors. Hard hard hard to do. Poor design. C. I did not look closely at the rear deck (fenders and stuff) and did not notice it was made of plastic. If I had noticed, and the JD had metal (I am not sure if it is or not) I would have spent the extra money on the JD D. The filler cap is vague screwing on, I get it cross-threaded unless I am real careful and that should not be. E. The PTO cover should have been designed such that no tool is needed to r/r the thing. Or at least they could have ADDED A TOOLBOX to keep the wrench in. F. The beer holder is pretty sloppy. Too big for a bottle or can, too small for an oil can. I am trying to find a way to get a cozy in there without buggering the plastic. Other than that, I love the thing.

Pros: Cheaper than a comparable John Deere.
Cons: See items A-F.

GC 2400
Model Year: 2010

I only have 30 hours on the machine so far, but it seems to be well built. It cuts grass well, and the FEL is powerful. I've removed several stumps so far. Controls are all with in reach, and easy to use. Seat will go far enough forwards to allow short people to operate in comfort.

Pros: Powerful for the size. Comfortable.
Cons: Parking brake needs special attention, it has a tendency to "pop" out by itself.

Great Machine
Model Year: 2010

This is the second subcompact I've had (first was GC2300). These little tractors have never let me down. They always have the power and versatility for all the jobs I ask. From seeding lawns to moving mulch to spraying herbicide - they're always up for the task.

Pros: Financing was amazing, the hydraulics work great for the size of the machine.
Cons: None to date.

Awesome lil tractor
Model Year: 0

Front End Loader & 4 foot Kanga Slasher I've 2.5 acres ans was sick of spending hours on the mower cutting grass. I'm down to about 40 minutes and it cuts better than my Huski ride on. The power still amazes me when moving rocks and digging them out of the ground. I bought a mini ripper and have put a number of rip lines in. I'm really happy with the tractor.

Pros: Float Mode on FEL, cruise control, drink holder and fuel filler placement.
Cons: Ummm, errrr. I shot a rock 30 meters out the back of the slasher and broke the lounge room window.

GC2400, FEL, MMM, 54" Box Blade
Model Year: 0

Very pleased and actually surprised at how well this machine works. I have turf tires, but the machine still moves great in snow. A little hard to start in extreme cold but I have heard so are the others. MMM cuts like a dream and I love the cruise control. The 2 pedal system for forward and reverse also works well. FEL powerful and very easy to use. Very easy to get on and off operator platform, with all controls at your finger tips.

Pros: Great machine for the price.
Cons: Had to start in extreme cold without block heater.

Simply an Excellent Sub-Compact
Model Year: 2010

So far this little machine has done everything I have called on it to do. Cut grass. Move earth and stone. Cut out grass and soil for a driveway extension. Move 8 foot firewood logs with the FEL and (aftermarket) clamp on forks. Skid fallen trees. And the 2360 snow blower is absolutely phenomenal, even in the heavy wet stuff. What a great machine! I will be making a home-made counter weight for the 3-point hitch. An absolute must for safety when working this little machine's FEL to it's limits. In my opinion, the best estate tractor out there.

Pros: Power for it's size.
Cons: None yet.

GC2400 Massey Ferguson
Used for Snowblowing, Brush Cutting and Mowing.
Model Year: 2010

I sold my 52 acre place and bought a 1/2 acre place on a lake. Not needing my Massey 1235 compact tractor for the lake I traded it on the GC2400 as it is the smallest tractor I liked that could handle a 4 foot bush cutter. I needed the bush cutter as I mow and brush cut about 32 acres on dads old farm. The 2400 was delivered to the farm with a Rhino 4' cutter, I spent the first 8 hours bush cutting and mowing 2 foot tall grass. I am very happy with the power and stability on the hills. I then moved it to my old home and hooked up the 2325 5' mower deck and mowed about 15 acres of 6" high lawn. I also bought an old John Deere 5' scraper blade and put a couple of hours on it landscaping dirt and mud. The turf tires had good traction and worked good all winter in the snow also. Next I moved the 2400 to my place on the lake and installed the front 2360 60" snow blower. I live in Northern Maine where we get around 115 inches of snow a year. It is the best snowblower I ever had, it installs in about a 2 minuets and works great. The tractor has a block heater and only takes about 15 or 20 minutes to warm it up so that it starts easily. The snow blower has no problem cutting through hard packed snowbanks that had been sitting for months or moving any snow I had to move. Lots of power for cutting, mowing, and snow blowing.

Pros: Looks Great, good power, easy on and off for the implements, comfortable to sit on all day.
Cons: No soft start for the PTO's, no problem at all for the blower or mower, but you have to idle down low for the bush cutter to engage without a lot of banging and shaking. I wouldn't let this keep you from getting the tractor as it works great.

GC2400 Massey Ferguson
Great for a Little Guy
Model Year: 2011

I bought my GC2400 back in Feb, 2011. Love it! I use it for moving snow here in Vermont, mowing my 4 acres and general digging and yard work. I love using it, I look for excuses to use it. The only thing I wish that was better was it is very tippy. My land isn't perfectly flat and I am actually nervous to drive on any hills. I have seen it go on 2 wheels with nothing in the loader and it was very low to the ground. Other then that the tractor had great lifting ability especially for a 23HP rig. I have used it for spreading surepac, 3/4 stones, processed dirt and moving an entire driveway of 18" of wet snow. I live in a town full of Kubota owners and nobody laughs because I bought a MF. In fact some are embarrassed that I paid less, got a better deal on financing and mine just "looks cooler"

Pros: Power, fun to drive, would be lost without it.
Cons: A little top heavy, not very stable on hills.

100 Hour Update
Model Year: 0

I have 100 hours on my GC 2400 and 1 year of use. This tractor has been fantastic! I have dug out stumps, dug out bushes, and flowers. I've mowed grass, blown snow, plowed virgin ground(with turf tires), sunk the one row cultivator in as far as it would go, used a middlebuster, and a rototiller. This tractor does all the jobs well considering the size, and my tire choice.(turfs were the best choice for my conditions). I performed the 50 hour service myself, the tractor is very easy to service.

Pros: Does everything needed on my property.
Cons: Hard starting in winter.

GC2400
Model Year: 2011

Bought a new MF GC2400 with FEL, mid-mount mower, and front blade. So far I am very happy with it. I moved about 20 tons of packed shale and number 3 stone. The FEL is sized well for its lift capability; a full bucket is just about the max weight it can lift with no strain. It dug the shale from a shale bank pretty well. You definitely need to counter-weight the rear end if you will carry a full bucket down a hill. I feared tipping over quite a few times. I do not recommend driving on a side slope at all. The narrow width of the tractor makes that very unstable. I used the FEL and later the 54 inch blade to regrade a badly rutted driveway and it did a far better job than I had hoped for. I was going to rent a box blade but that turned out to be un-needed. The front blade is very capable of scraping a gravel driveway. The blade is very easy to mount and dismount but you must remove the front bumped (grill guard) to do this. After a little practice, I could mount and dismount the FEL in about 5-10 minutes. The hardest part is the hydraulic quick connects; they are mounted too close to the body of the tractor and are hard to grasp. The 60 inch MM mower cuts very well but it is not easy to mount and dismount. It is very heavy and is not a drive-over implement. So you have to drag it under the tractor. This requires quite a bit of effort and you must raise the front end of the tractor 4-5 inches to clear the bottom of the engine. The tractor has plenty of power for its size and purpose. I was able to run it fairly hard for ten hours on 4.4 gallons of fuel. I have no experience with diesels but that seems like pretty good fuel usage to me.

Pros: Cost; maneuverability; size/power; controls.
Cons: Plastic parts; too close clearances; fragile mower pre-set height adjustment.
