Model year: 1983 Date Purchased: 2003-01-07 Number of Hours: 2300

"I bought my tractor to work a stand of pine trees about 24 acres of long leaf. I use it for raking out dead limbs and other trash from between the trees. Also for spraying for undergrowth. It is also used for mowing on other property sites."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Plenty of power to get the job done. Cons: I can't think of anything I don't like about it. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA SC I also considered buying:

"This tractor has done all I have asked it to do. I use it mainly to mow ten acres and to grade the driveway from time to time. I have also used it to brush hog some fairly grown up acreage and it has never complained. The diesel engine just keeps chugging along. While happy with this purchase, my next tractor will have a front end loader as well as four wheel drive, if I can manage it. I plan on restoring it some time in the future."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Great engine, plenty of power, ease of operation, little repairs. Cons: No front end loader, no remotes for accessories. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA TX I also considered buying:

"Piston pump is a little noisy, even when is was brand new. My nephew (big equipment mechanic) said that is the nature of piston pumps. Never had any trouble with it. Had to add external hyds. Did not come from the factory with them."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Good tractor. Cons: Did not come with external hyds.; probably a option. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA OH I also considered buying: John Deere 1020, Ford-New Holland 2120

MF 230

"I have used this tractor every week for over 20 years and I have not had one minutes trouble. It is an great machine and perfect for the 6' bush hog mowing and 6' Box blade grading. She is tough as an oak stump. It is hard to imagine that she does every thing I want her to do on about one gallon per hour. Although it is running like new I am considering the MF2605 because she is 25 years old. I understand is about the same."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Perkins Diesel. Cons: I honestly can not think of anything that I consider negative. Many newer models don't offer as much and the extras would not be enough for me to want to trade. Type of User: Homeowner 10-50 Acres Location: USA GA I also considered buying:

"It is a nice little tractor. It does a very good job for me. It's jobs are mostly cutting grass a little plowing/cultivation and small amounts of blade work. This tractor has been very reliable, much better than other similar sized tractors that I have owned. The complaints I have are fairly minor. The most aggravating thing by far is the constant battle I fight with fuel leaks, which have been numerous and hard to cure. It is loud and the seat does not have enough adjustment and I have had to replace the starter switch three times. Wishes: I would be happier if this tractor had come equipped with a locking diff and as long as I am wishing I will wish for a shuttle transmission too. The local dealer has been very good to me even though I didn't buy this used tractor from him. I am happy overall with this tractor and would buy it again."

REVIEWER'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pros: Reliability, fuel economy, and power. Cons: Fuel leaks noise. Type of User: Homeowner 1-10 Acres Location: USA TX I also considered buying: John Deere 920, Ford 3000
